Why visit this place?

• Pipe making began in Proseč in 1842, after two local men picked up the craft in Kladsko while following a retreating Prussian army.
• After 1880 the merchant Bernard Kopperle opened a workshop with about thirty workers and his pipes sold across Austria-Hungary.
• Admission is free, which helps when the class budget is tight.
• Allow roughly an hour and a quarter; the programme is aimed at upper primary and secondary students.
• There are 41 more tips within 25 km, enough to build a full-day trip.
• The whole programme is indoors, so rain is not a problem.
