Boubínský prales – národní přírodní rezervace

Location: 384 73 Zátoň · South Bohemia

Category: primeval forest / nature trail

One of the best-preserved examples of original Central European primeval forest on the slopes of Boubín mountain (1,362 m) in Šumava – a national nature reserve within the Šumava Protected Landscape Area. The original nature trail (3.6 km, 9 stops) circling the forest core has been closed since 2022 due to the risk of falling dead trees following a bark beetle outbreak. A new access route leads from the Na Kaplici car park via the Idina Pila information centre to Boubín Lake, with information boards along the way – both the lake and the Boubín summit remain accessible.
